Ecclesiastes 3:4 says "There is a time for laughing and dancing."
You will need:
- sheets of A3 card
- elastic 0.5cm wide
- scissors
- hole punch
- marker pens
- crepe paper
For each child:
- waistband
- strips of crepe paper 40-50cm long and 5 -6cm wide
- PVA glue and spreader
Your preparation:
With the card in the landscape position, cut into three sections across its width. You need as much lenghth as possible for the waistband. Fold each of these sections in half lengthways. Write the verse on one side of the band,. Punch a hole in each end, not too clsoe to the edge. Cut the elastic into 15cm lengths, loop one end through each hole in the band and tie off. When you measure the child's waist you can tie the other two ends of elastic together to make the right size. Cut the crepe paper ready for the children to use.
What to do:
Put PVA glue all along the inside of the waistband and then stick the different coloured strips on the top and the bottom so that you have two layers of crepe paper. Place the band around the child and tie the two spare ends of elastic together so that the skirt may be pulled on and off. Don't make it too tight.
Talk about:
God wants us to be happy. He loves us to laugh and dance.
You can also think about putting on some lively music and play a game of statues, where you stop the music and all the children have to stand still in the position they were when the music stopped. Any child who moves has to sit down until you have only one child remaining who is the winner.
