Sunday School Crafts: Candle
John 1:5 says "The light keeps shining in the dark, and darkness has never put it out."
You will need:
- A4 card
- ribbon
- scissors
- hole punch
- marker pens
- bowl of warm water
- soap
- facecloths
- towel
- tea-light candles
- modeling tool
For each child:
- apron
- lump of clay
- beads (non-inflammable) or flat glass marbles the kind used in flower arranging
- ribbon with label
Your preparation:
Cut out labels from the A4 card and write the verse on them with the marker pen. Punch a hole in them through which you will thread the ribbon. Cut the ribbon into lengths.
What to do:
With the clay help the children to make a pot that will hold teh tea-light candle. Push the beads/glass marbles into the finished pot for decoration. Make a hole in the pot with the modelling tool. When the pot is dry, thread the ribbon with the label through the hole, tie firmly and pop in tea-light.
Talk about:
God wants us to be little lights to teh world by being good and following what he tells us to do.
You may want to think about doing this at Christmas or for Mothering Sunday.
